If a company intends to manufacture products intended for sale and/or intended to come into contact with food, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer of the final product to obtain all necessary certifications.
Approving the final product (a 3D-printed object) for food contact is a complex issue influenced not only by the raw material but also by the conditions under which the final product is manufactured (the printer, the environment, and the model’s geometry). Microorganisms can accumulate and multiply in the interlayer voids of each print.
